K.Sridhar
Real World Records

Krishnamurty Sridhar plays the Sarod - a 25 stringed fretless instrument of great complexity. Rigorously trained since his youth, Sridhar is a faultless technician and revered for his virtuosity, purity and spontaneity with which he develops the themes of his ragas.
Sridhar hails from a family of famous musicians in "Carnatic Tradition" and stands as one of the most appreciated Sarod players. The Sarod is an instument characteristic of the "Hindustani" tradition of North India.
These two traditions which co-exist in India have the same basic system but differ greatly; by the instrument used, by the Ragas (modal development) played and especially by the very conception of human expression.
Few artists, singers or instrumentalists are able to master both traditions. Sridhar is one of those.
